Partners in Prayer

Victorian Catholics are back in lockdown,
deprived of access to Mass and the Sacraments.
We are inviting priests and their parishes outside Victoria
to spiritually sponsor a priest and parish within Victoria.
Victorian priests are invited to nominate their parishes
for spiritual support from a non-Victorian parish.

My parish is outside Victoria. How can we support a Victorian parish?

Offer Sunday Mass. Your priest could commit to offering one of his Sunday Masses each week for the needs of your prayer partner parish.

Daily Rosary. In many parishes, the rosary is prayed daily before or after Mass. Your priest could ask this group to offer the daily rosary for your prayer partner parish.

Holy Hour. Run a special Holy Hour to pray for your prayer partner parish. You could invite people from the Victorian parish to submit prayer intentions that could be read out during the Hour.

Ask your Prayer Partner Parish. Your priest could ask the Victorian parish with whom you are partnered whether there is a form of support they would appreciate.

Offer Mass. Your priest could commit to offering one of his private or streamed Masses each week for the needs of your prayer partner parish.

Living Rosary. John Paul II recalled that in Poland, during the war, families formed a living rosary, each pledging to pray a decade of the rosary daily. You could organise parishioners to pray a decade each day for the needs of your partner parish.

Send prayer intentions. Your priest could invite parishioners to convey personal prayer intentions to your prayer partner parish.

Ask your Prayer Partner Parish. Your priest could ask the non-Victorian parish with whom you are partnered whether there is a form of support they would appreciate.

Priests of Australia, nominate your parish as a “Partner in Prayer”

Priests are invited to nominate their parish for this initiative. Interested parishioners should have their priests email our secretary.
Priests should identify the name and suburb of their parish, indicating whether they are Victorian or non-Victorian.
Indicate if you have a parish in mind that you would like to partner with or if you would like us to arrange a partner for you.
Also indicate what form of spiritual support your parish proposes to offer your prayer partner.

We have prepared a flyer to help non-Victorian parishes promote their involvement in Partners in Prayer. Once you have registered and received a partner parish, simply download the flyer, print it in the desired size, and write in the indicated details in a bold marker.
